I reserve time on my schedule, plan for your lessons, and invest in the long-term development of each student. To provide regular, quality lessons, the following policies need to be observed.
Private music instruction is an opportunity for an individual to learn a musical skill in a comfortable learning environment with a curriculum completely designed for them!
I work with my students to choose materials and methods that are appropriate for their age and match the learning style of that individual. Younger students may require help from a parent, but generally the student is responsible for preparing for, and attending the lesson.
Daily practice is ideal in order to maximize the benefit of private lessons. Obviously in today’s busy lifestyle, many students, both youth and adult, cannot find the time for daily practice. But a minimum of several good practice sessions per week at home are necessary in order to make sufficient progress.
Payment
All tuition fees are paid in advance, if possible. You can pay:
Adjustable weekly scheduling
Some students may find that the same day doesn't work out for them every week due to family scheduling or work conditions. If you are unable to find a time every week to consistently take lessons then you can schedule your lessons one lesson at time. You may schedule as many lessons as you would like in advance. However, a student who signs up under a consistent weekly schedule will be able to hold the block for the upcoming weeks ahead while an Adjustable schedule will only be able to hold on the time slots that he/she has confirmed with the teacher.
Cancellation Policy
Your lesson time is reserved exclusively for you, so please try not to miss lessons if at all possible. You will not be charged for missed lessons if you give me 48hrs notice. Lessons missed without notification will be charged for; except in the case of illness or other last-minute conflict, in which case students are asked to inform me as soon as they know they will be missing their scheduled lesson time.
Make Up Lessons
If a student misses a lesson for any reason and gives a 48-hour notice, the student is eligible for a makeup lesson. If a 48-hour notice is not given, or no notice is given, the student is not eligible for a makeup lesson and the student forfeits that lesson. If the student does not show up for the agreed-upon make-up date, student will forfeit that lesson.
No – shows
If the student fails to show up and doesn't call or text to inform me, the student will forfeit that lesson and no make-up lesson will be scheduled.
Late for lesson
Most lessons are scheduled back-to-back. If you are late I will not be able to extend your lesson into the next student's lesson time. If the student is tardy, the student will only be given a lesson that lasts for the duration of their prearranged and agreed upon time and date. For example, if the student’s lesson is from 4:00-5:00, and the student arrives at 4:15; the student will be given a lesson until 5:00. No make up lesson will be given for tardy students and tuition will not be adjusted.
Teacher Absence
- In the event that I must miss a lesson (I will notify you as soon as possible), I will either schedule a make up lesson (make up lessons will be scheduled on a mutually agreed upon time) or deduct a lesson fee from the bill
- If I cancel a lesson due to illness, family emergency, or any other reason, a make up lesson will be granted to the student or I will give you a credit.
Summer session, holidays
The summer session is flexible and will be contracted on an individual basis.
Students that do not plan to attend lessons during half terms/holidays/breaks/etc. need to give a notice, so I can fill those time slots.
NOTES FOR PARENTS
* Please try to organise your child's day so there is time to play their instrument (even if it is only for 10 minutes) every day
* Parents please drop and collect your child at the correct time. No supervision is provided outside of your allocated lesson time.
